More About Suction Cupping Therapy

Functional Release Cupping (FRC)

This specialised treatment puts us above the rest when it comes to cupping treatments. This application is a focused 30 minute treatment, where cups are placed on the area of tension or focus, you're then guided through slow movement exercises which move the affected muscle and fascia underneath the tension of the cup. This creates a 'reverse massage' effect, lifting and decompressing the muscle as it moves.

Fascia Health and Hydration

Slow, sustained pressure and lift applied by the cups helps to activate and stimulate the fascia. Fascia is a weblike, connective tissue found all throughout the body and woven within the muscle tissue. Fascia needs to be well hydrated and elastic to allow it to move freely. Cupping helps to decompress and lengthen the fascia, which aids in its hydration. This leads to better fascia health, more glide and therefore more freedom of movement.

Improve Circulation

Like massage, cupping helps to improve blood flow, which boosts the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to your muscles. This can reduce inflammation and help to speed up recovery. This also helps to improve hydration and glide in the muscle tissue and surrounding fascia for ease of movement and improved muscle and fascia health.

Decrease Pain

Like massage, the multi-directional firm pressure of cupping can help to reduce pain for both acute injury and people with chronic pain. Slow stroke inputs like massage and cupping have been proven to not only desensitize the body's pain receptors, but can also improve freedom of movement, and provide lasting results.

Static vs Gliding Cupping

Cupping in its traditional sense can be both static and gliding, and we offer both of these treatments depending on what you need. Static cupping involves place cups over trigger points in a static position while working elsewhere in a treatment. Gliding involves a lighter suction, and moving the cup along the surface of the skin while maintaining the suction and decompression of the muscle.

If you prefer the comfort of your own home, or you're unable to travel, get in touch about the options for home visits and mobile massage. Mobile massage is perfect for small groups, who don't want to travel for massage in town and instead want to stay in the comfort of their accommodation.

Mobile massage is also perfect for those who are unable to travel due to disability, injury, or surgery that limits the ability to drive. This means you can still receive the remedial massage you need, without the added stress of arranging travel.
